Application and Admission
The application process begins approximately one year in advance of the anticipated Clinical Program start date. In general, the application process includes: MTIMPM Clinical Practicum Application, three recommendations using the MTIMPM Recommendation Form, university/college transcripts, 2 handwritten essays, application processing fee and an interview.

The Medical Laboratory Science Internship Matching Program of Michigan (MTIMPM) provides a standardized process for computer matching eligible applicants with hospitals throughout the state of Michigan The MTIMPM website gives a description of the computer match process and provides specific participation instructions. MTIMPM DOES NOT ELIMINATE each individual hospital application process
Ascension Southeast Michigan, School of Medical Laboratory Science applicants MUST submit the MTIMPM Application along with fulfilling our additional, specific application requirements. Submit your application directly to our School of Medical Laboratory Science.
Clinical Laboratory Science/Medical Technology Applicants
The School of Medical Laboratory Science presently maintains an academic affiliation agreement with Michigan Technological University. Students from this affiliate, once accepted into the Clinical Program, complete the year on a 3 + 1 status and receive their baccalaureate degree at the conclusion of the internship. Those who already hold a baccalaureate degree in clinical laboratory sciences/medical technology (4 + 1 status) apply for a fifth year of study.
Biological Science or Chemistry Major Career Option
Graduates with a baccalaureate degree in a biological science or chemistry technology (4 + 1 status) may also apply to the School of Medical Laboratory Science for the fifth year of study. The Clinical Program provides an exciting opportunity to study in a hands-on environment that allows them to advance their skills with our cutting edge technology. A career in the clinical laboratory sciences gives biological science or chemistry graduates mobility in the job market while allowing them to continue their education in graduate or professional studies if so desired.
